The expanding European Union has made sustainability one of its highest priorities. Its a huge challenge, given the range of practice from the excellent to the tragic. Frankly, the UK has much to learn in many areas, and G2L strongly believes that participation in European-funded projects is an excellent way for an organisation to learn about best practice in a whole range of activities.
There is a huge range of programmes, most administered by the Commission directly.
The common elements are:

• The programmes are managed on a formal cycle:
• proposals can normally only be submitted when there is a call, and have to meet the published priorities of the programme
• Time is always very tight between a call being published and the deadline for submissions
• The Commission will fund part of a proposed project (never more than 50%) and the organisation has to find the rest
• Partnership with organisations from other Member States of the EU (and, increasingly, Accession Countries) is expected.
