The Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) has published a paper which presents recommendations for delivering high-quality well-maintained public spaces. In 2002, CABE published Paving the way, a statement on the problems we face with the design, regulation, management and maintenance of our streets. This new publication highlights the progress made in the interim on the twelve recommendations contained in Paving the way, and the vital steps which still need to be taken to create a genuine transformation of our streets.
