NEST

NEST is a three-year project funded by the EU LIFE programme.
The project aims to deliver a verified Eco Management Auditing Scheme (EMAS) to 10 local authorities across four European countries - Poland, Hungary, Greece and the UK.

 

Global to Local's role in the project:
We worked closely with Kirklees Metropolitan Council to develop the bid; provide technical and project co-ordination, devising and delivering EMAS methodology, materials for a toolkit and training.

The NEST project is now finished and the tools are available for any municipality to use.

The tools provide a simplified approach to implementing EMAS or ISO14001. The tools have been tested within the NEST project and 6 municipalities have been successfully verified to EMAS standards using this approach. The maximum time taken from starting implementation to successful verification was 2 years.
