The CREST project will develop European level networks between the 11 project partners, 8 of which are municipalities. There are 5 participating EU Member states, with a range of experience on environmental management systems and carbon management.
CREST will develop an integrated methodology for achieving a reduction in energy consumption and bundling carbon savings from a range of stakeholders within each geographic location, which may then be traded across the EU.
CREST will seek to address the barriers which are limiting the trans national development of community level carbon accounting and trading in order to inform future policy development at a national and EU level.
The CREST project links very closely with the Covenant of Mayors, participants will be at the forefront on the EU agenda on municipalities addressing climate change.
G2L's role in the project:
G2L were commissioned by the Lead Partners, Stroud District Council to develop and submit a proposal on behalf of the project partners for the Intelligent Energy Europe Programme call in summer 2008. We are currently awaiting the evaluation of the project proposal due in December 2008. To find out more, please contact Fiona Glover, fiona.glover@globaltolocal.com
