"Say it Loud" Schools Festivals
Global to Local was at the forefront in promoting the "Sustainable Schools" agenda, long before it became mainstream.

We organised the succesful "Say it Loud" festivals, from 2002 to 2005, in London and the East of England.

The Festivals provide schools with an occasion to celebrate their achievements, whether they have worked alone, with the local education authority or with other organisations. They afford both teachers and pupils a unique opportunity to share their ideas and achievements.

The festivals:

• celebrate the achievements of school projects
• provide a forum for the exchange of ideas between schools and the sharing of good practice
• promote sustainable development education in schools
• promote wider public awareness of the links between the local environment and global development issues
• put sustainable development at the heart of the National Curriculum, demonstrating cross-curricular opportunities in IT, Geography, Science, English, Art, Drama, Citizenship  etc.

"Every Child's Future Matters"
Conference Cambridge 2008

The “Every Child Matters” and the “Sustainable Communities” agendas provide local authorities with the opportunity to work cross-departmentally to ensure that sustainability is a core concern of and for all children and young people.

The Government Office for the East of England, in conjunction with Global to Local, organised a regional conference with the aim of moving this agenda forward in a positive way.

This conference provided an occasion for local authority officers, teachers, heads and students to learn about good practice in the region, overcoming obstacles and recognising opportunities. In addition to the presentations, there were discussion/workshop sessions covering school travel plans, food and waste.
